This guy right here, he is determined, persistent, inspirational, and motivational, he is my best friend, and my mentor. Alfredo is the person I want to honor and show my appreciation towards, because he is one the most important people out of hundreds who have changed who I have become. So here I stand at his funeral today speaking of my utmost gratitude, for he has turned my life into something I could have only dreamt about.
With lending only a shoulder to lean on, ears to speak to, and his offerings of a few wise words, this friend of mine has allowed me to go above and beyond the potential I never saw in myself before.
I have gone through almost 19 and a half years of my life and I have met millions of people and gone through many experiences, however, it wasn’t until I met this guy that I began to see life in a whole new light. He has not only enabled me to have more confidence but he has also shown me that I am capable of doing things that are bigger and better than myself.
Everyone deserves to have a friend who is fun and adventurous. And I’m sure a majority of people do have a person like this in their life, yet I was lucky enough to have a person who was both outgoing and extremely wise. Having a friend with intelligence and wisdom is an enormous gift from god. Alfredo was the type of friend who was there whether you’re looking for a spontaneous outing or going through a life crisis, I could never take a friend like him for granite for one second.
It had been during my first semester of college that I met him and at the time he had been starting our college’s newspaper, a few short conversations later he openly invited me to become a writer and from that point on I did nothing but thrive. With his authoritative position as editor in chief of the EVC flyer he made it possible for me to become a permanent member and start my own fashion column. Something I will always have an undying passionate for.
And being the fresh meat I was at EVC, I would have trouble with my classes occasionally so I would call this guy over, and he would sit up with me as late as possible just so that he could help me do whatever it was. From essays, articles to speeches for this class. He was always there and ready with our coffee.
He also introduced me to student government and helped me to grow more active on campus by running and campaigning for a position in associated students. To sum it up he has been there for each step of my academic progress this year and is still there answering my prayers when I need someone to go to for words of wisdom or inspiration.
Aside from my academic’s he was also there when I needed to release stress and in desperate need to relax.
He was open ears while going through hard times and he was more than willing to listen.
He was my favorite exercise partner; together we would hike, run and walk to relieve stress that builds up from everyday life
All in all he is a great friend and mentor to me, he has taught me several valuable lessons I will never forget. He directed me in all of the right pathways and if it weren’t for him I would not be the successful young women I am today.
He had truly been a blessing, not once had he let me down or put me to shame. He is extremely reliable without the least bit of resistance and I know that he would serve as a shield to any tension or distress that comes into my life.
